Summary
Mixed Bag, The Series is a web-based written fiction series that centers on a group of concessions food service workers at the professional baseball stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The wide variety of characters experience highs and lows in their everyday lives inside and outside of work. Family, social events, hobbies, and other activities come into play. Much of Mixed Bag, The Series is loosely based on true events.
Pilot Synopsis
It’s Opening Day and the concessions team at the Milwaukee Chuggers baseball stadium deals with the hectic atmosphere and expectations of a make-it-or-break-it health inspection. Irwin, the new Supervisor, faces challenges fitting in with the staff and trying to impress his bosses, but witnessing a crime on his way home from work will rock his world.
The Characters
Ethan and Irwin have been friends since high school, with Ethan attempting to help Irwin at work and in life overall. Mel and Ethan have worked together for many years and are close confidants. Mel owns and operates Luciano’s Coffee & Bakery, which was left to her by her grandparents. A successful and busy shop, Mel at times struggles to balance her high-pressure position at the stadium, in addition to running Luciano’s. A mixed bag of people surround Mel, Ethan, and Irwin–some playing larger roles than others, but all are still key elements to the series. Many different plots and storylines are developed and revealed, while characters face problems and conflict, with also some successes thrown in. What happens along the way? Time to read and find out…

The series is written by MMSS MKE GROUP… and we are a passionate writing team located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mixed Bag, The Series is a project many years in the making, a vision of two life-long friends who have worked multiple jobs together over the course of 12 years. We have seen it all working in the food and beverage industry and wanted to put our experiences on paper to share with readers near and far.
The Vision
Mixed Bag, The Series has aspirations of being made into a television show. We have been discouraged throughout the last decade of the decline in strong network scripted offerings, with promising shows being cancelled mid-way or after one season. The frustrating aspect of lack of funding to create long-running web series’ is also disheartening, along with the bureaucracies and long odds to get noticed at most Hollywood studios or the online streaming giants, such as Netflix or Amazon. Gone are the days of strong, long-running network comedies such as Seinfeld, Friends, Frasier, and even many of the good dramas barely last more than 3 or 4 seasons anymore.
We hope that our stories and characters are entertaining to all who read and visit the site. Many everyday people have at some point in their lives worked in food service or an environment like it and their stories and voices are rarely heard. We seek to change that… so we write… and we are not politically correct or trying to appease the masses. We are who we are, and proud of not only our writings, but also our Midwest upbringing.
